flying
Just a quick post… I know we’ve both been pretty bad about putting up current events lately. The busy-ness with home projects and Christmas and travel have kept us from updating everyone on some new developments.
A few of those developments are:
After nearly 7 months, James filled his last newborn (N) diaper. We’ve moved on to size 1.
His dangling G-tube has been replaced by a big button on his tummy that connects to a detachable tube. Abby will blog more about this, but pushing his sticky little pancreatic enzyme beads through this tighter tube is a lot more challenging.
He’s tried out some new solid foods, and seems to enjoy the novelty of it. Now he wants to eat whatever he sees us eating. However, the smashed banana we fed him yesterday may have given him some constipation.

He has been weighed a couple times this past week, but the weight has not been posted to the blog. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been really any higher than 9 lbs. 1.5 oz. Hopefully this week we’ll get another spurt. But don’t expect weights to be charted on the web for another couple of weeks, because I’m the only one who does that, and I’ll be in…
AFRICA!
That’s right, immediately following church this morning, another mission leader from our church and our pastor and me are flying out to Kenya to participate in the dedication of the completed New Testament for the Digo people. Those who know us well know that Bible Translation is big in our hearts, and this particular people group has really captivated the enthusiasm of our church for missions in general, especially to Bibleless peoples. So anyhow, I won’t be blogging for a while (I get back on Dec. 13), but hopefully Abby will keep everyone posted. Although James will be “fatherless” for the next 11 days, there are still lots of adoring grandparents in the picture. The Digo, who have been “fatherless” for centuries, have just just received the news that God is their father, loving them unconditionally through the rescuing work of Christ on their behalf. The New Testament in their heart language is a huge development in their history, and it is my joy to share in this celebration.
Oops. Late for church.
